The commercial workplace renovation for a Satellite Technology group for a large Online Retailer, draws inspiration from the Overview Effect, the profound shift in perspective astronauts experience when viewing Earth from space. This concept influenced every aspect of the design, from material selection to spatial elements, evoking Earth's beauty and fragility. The material palette reflects aerial views of the planet, with combed plaster and tile resembling farmland and swirling carpets mimicking mountain ranges. The ceiling design abstracts the aperture grid found in early space photography, reinforcing the connection to documenting Earth from above. The lobby design pays homage to the lunar biome, incorporating retro sci-fi aesthetics, gold accents referencing the Apollo lander, and a reception desk symbolizing satellite orbits. The kitchenette represents the rural biome, featuring natural tones and textures that echo Earth's landscapes as seen from orbit. Through these design elements, the space immerses occupants in a narrative that celebrates exploration, connection, and the responsibility to protect our planet.
